Raid Starships mandatory?
It seems like I have to research mark 2 or mark 3 very soon into the game EVERY TIME. Not that they'd be overpowered, but some situations are just 1000 times easier.

What to do vs eyes for example without raid starships? Kinda sick of microing raid starships all the time, seems like that's the majority of what I'm doing in AI war recently.

Out of curiosity, which situations have you found to be that much easier with Raid Starships?

So far, I've found that using Assault Transports to sneak in strike-forces is a very useful technique, though that typically requires taking out Tachyon Guardians first. And you can easily fill a transport with whatever is needed to take out a specific guard-post while still staying under the 2:1 limit. You then just deploy it in range of the guard-post, and then extract your units as soon as the guard post is down to minimize casualties. Moreover, you can use the transport to "sweep" up ships with disabled engines (order the ship to enter the transport, and then just park the transport on top of the ship), significantly reducing attrition when trying to capture a planet with Ion Cannon(s).

In my current game I'm forced to use this technique (at least until I think of something better), since most planets have either Orbital Mass Drivers or Counter Spies, insta-gib'ing either starships or cloaked ships, but not (cloaked) transports.

Assault ships are simply Raid Starships mark V imho. When your Mark I-IV aren't enough anymore. I wanted to mention Assault Transports before writing this as the second strategy I use, so yeah.

If sabotage wasn't so hit or miss ... is there a way to cloak or secure the hacker thingy once a tachyon warhead was launched by the AI?

Shields from Riot Starship/Protector Starship/Shield Bearer?

For sabotage: one trick is to distract the AI with transports, or seed the sabotage hackers around the planet while moving the hacker. Typically it's easy to make one sabotage survive long enough to take out the eye.

Otherwise I often use a starships-team with flagship, zenith, and spire. Add in riots for shield from time to time. For many 2:1 eyes that work very well at taking out the guard posts.
(Those starships are also much more useful than raid in conventional assaults.)

Do also note that the cloaker booster exist for a reason. I have found it very helpful to get scouts further, but also to keep hacker from being killed before doing the job. (On that note, you can spam sabotage without problem as long as you use pause to avoid killing stuff you dont' want to spend hacking points on. It works wonder.)

Personally, I don't use Raid Starships a lot. I remember using them a lot when I was using the Epic system (where they're good), but once I started playing in Normal mode, they all died too quickly to be interesting.
