Whats the error message? Are you running the same versions? Have you all for the dlc or not got the dlc? Are you all running your own copy of the game,

We have bought the game with the DLC on steam, the error is "Unable to join game", we have the same version too, i don't know why this is happening.

Try tempoarily turning off your firewalls, occasionally they can cause issues.
