"The cake is a lie!"
Portal is set in the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories. You use your portal gun to create portals to help solve puzzles to finish "Test Chambers" after finishing all of which you will be awarded with cake. You use the power phyisics such as gravity and momentum, and manipulate them to solve the puzzles. When trying to finish the test chambers GladOS
the Aperture Science Laboratories' Artificial Intelligence is watching you. To put it simply GladOS
is the name of the robot that is assessing you while you are solving each test chamber. The difficulty of the test chambers can vary for each person. Some may find areas easier than others however this does NOT
decrease the amount of enjoyment provided by this game.
This game is known for its gameplay and story shine. Portal's level designs are fantastic. They indirectly teach the player new tricks and strategies to help finish the test chamber even in an absolutely instructionless and deadly environment. The story is weaved quietly throughout until a truly grand finale and an excellent ending.
The game's length can vary on how difficult you find it but the average length is around 2 hours so it is quite short. Keep in mind those 2 hours will be some of the best you have ever spent.
For $9.99 Portal is worth it however if you are a fan of Valve or are new to steam I would recommend buying The Orange Box
for $19.99 which contains Portal and four other titles from Valve. The Orange Box
- Half-Life 2
- Half-Life 2: Episode 1
- Half-Life 2: Episode Two
- Team Fortress 2 (Free to Play)

Portal is a fantastic puzzle game and is a must-have. This game unlike others only has one downside to it and that is that it is too short. Everyting considered this is a game you should
be throwing your money at.
9/10 (would spend 2 hours of my life playing Portal again)
