Can launch codes harm Gmod in any way???
Please tell me. I have pink and black squares infecting some maps on Gmod, and someone said to use launch code "-dxlevel 81 " and I want to know if launch codes can harm Gmod in any way

no, and they are wrong, the reason for the pink and black squares is that you are missing th counter strike source resources that garry's mod maps use predominantly. The more source games you own, the less pink and black you will have.

the dxlevel 8 fixes other thinkgs but not the pink and black squares.

Is there anyway I could get the resouces? I like Gmod, but all of the maps on the servers my friends play on are all infected with this checkered pattern.

You need to have CS:S installed onto the computer that has Garry's Mod. When it's installed, look for the Counter-Strike: Source directory located somewhere in your "C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/" folder in your C: Drive (Or other drive, depending on where you put it) Find Counter-Strike: Source, open it up and copy the "Materials" folder, and paste it/ Copy over to your "GarrysMod/garrysmod/" folder.

Thanks you! This fixed some problems. However cirtain maps like 67thway still have pink and black squares. however I think this is due to the fact that I do not currently have Half Life 2 Installed

Yes, half life 2 is also one that helps there, also day of defeat, cs:go.

Also just realised: Have you run any of the games since getting gmod? After any update i suggest opening the game before playing gmod because some of the files get changed. I don't know why this works but it works for me.

No they can't. Worst case scenario would be having to redownload or reverify Garry's Mod.
