Problem With Redownloading Addons
Recently I was having a completely different problem with the game (which I fixed) and I needed to download all of my addons (about 100). After I finished, I realized many of them had not taken effect and decided to restart the game to show about 70 of them redownloading. The same thing occured after they were done, and I tried restarting again just for another 70 redownloads. Is there any way to fix this? I should also mention that might game has constantly been saying it is installing workshop content in the steam download manager, and even when it says its updating it never makes any progress.

Check your Garry's mod addons folder and see if you can find anything from there. Otherwise, you just got to download them manually again.

I've noticed that sometimes Gmod likes to redownload specific addons for no specified reason. You could try the most basic fixes such as verifying game cache, reinstall and etc.

(before that I recommend making a collection of all your addons. I know, it might take a while, but it's the simpliest way to get your addons back after reinstalling the game).

What should I be looking for? I don't see anything out of the ordinary and I just redownloaded them all

I'll try rreinstalling the games, and because of the previous issue and needing to redownload all of them before I have them in a collection

I mean go to your addon folder and see if you can find your addons that haven't been fully downloaded

Looking in the folder, even after the game "redownloads" the 70 mods there isnt anything in the folder accept the 30 that worked from the start. It doesn't even show any files that are downloading. Theres just nothing else.

May we see one of the 70 other addons that aren't succesfully downloading?

I'm not sure what you're looking for exactly but this is one of the 70 that keeps redownloading

If you need any other information on it I will provide. I should also mention that before the initial issue that caused me to lose my addons in the first place, all 100 addons were working.

Just wondering, do you have another copy of the Garry's mod folder? If so, try and see if it has all of your missing addons

Looks like it's not the updating bug. Though I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the major subscribtion update that came out not so long ago. Let me look through the changelog real quick and see if any conflictions or anything like that could of occured.

How long ago did that update come out? If its extremely recent that might very well be it.

I doubt that it's any of the recent updates either. A very mysterious bug you're dealing with. But how about you try this out:

1: Unistall all addons you have installed from the main menu in Gmod from Addons -> Subscribed.

2: Access the folder that contains all your addons and delete it (if it's empty, still delete it).

3:Unistall Garry's mod.

4:Install Garry's mod.

5: Use the collection to get your addons back

Note: Once it's the first time your run the game after intalling it again, stay in the main menu, use steam overlay web browser, locate your addon collection, and simply subscribe to those addons. Once you clicked on all of those green + buttons, simply SHIFT+TAB, and leave your PC be for a minute, until it has succesfully downloaded all the addons.

If that did not worked, I have no idea how else I could help you in this situation. You should try your luck on Facepunch forums. ;)

I should also mention that I have been getting the Content File Locked error a lot after restarting my game. Its not all the time, but it might be the reason why the other 70 wont work.

An error occured while updating Garrys Mod (content file locked):
D:\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x64.cab

2017 July. Not that recent, as I said, I doubt that it's the the reason you are dealing with this problem.
