[RESOLVED] Cannot start game

When I start Portal, the screen goes blank, as though the computer had been unplugged from the TV. I tried verifying cache, deleting and redownloading the game, and a few other things but nothing seems to work. Portal 2 and other source games work fine though. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't even get the Valve screen with the guy with the tap in his head.

Very odd.

I had logged a ticket with Valve support, but no response, so I am asking the community for advice.

Resolved. Forced height and width to my TV's native resolution via "-h 768 -w 1360" and it worked fine.
