Wasn't this game released for Linux
I am on Ubuntu 12.10 and I though I saw news Portal was released for Linux. Am I mistaking?

Yeah, you probably read about po_s_tal (2), not po_r_tal... Anyway I am waiting for this, too.

Haha, I did misread that a few times but before I saw Postal I saw a post about someone talking about getting Portal for free for trying Linux Steam or something.

Portal 1 was free for people in the Mac OS X beta

According to valve, they plan to port most of their games that were created with the HL2 engine. I presume this would include portal.

However, I have seen absolutely no timeline given.

Considering that Portal has quite a few more modifications to the engine than other games slated as closed-beta quality on Linux, such as Left4Dead 2, I suspect we have some time to wait before we get to play Portal on Linux.

In the mean time, they have worked out many of the quirks running Portal on Wine, it seems, so that is one thing to be happy about.

Valve time GO.

It'll happen, probably all Valve games so as to support the Steam Box, who knows when though.
