2.3 GB update?
I just got a 2.3 GB update for Portal and a 1.8 GB update for Half Life Deathmatch: Source. Does anyone have the patch notes?

My Portal and Half Life 2 managed to delete themselves from my HD, so they both have to re install. This happened right after yesterdays down time, I have no idea what happened.

same to me Steam wanted to restart for an update, now 3 games (portal, vvvvvv and COD4) have been removed and require downloading again. :( First time this has happened to me.

What the hell is going on? My Steam also wants to download 2.3GB of Portal 1. I stopped it and looked at my folders. I do still have the portal folder, but there's almost nothing in there anymore. So essentially Steam deleted my installation of Portal without any reason at all and of course against my wishes and now wants to redownload it.

Get your stuff together Valve, deleting stuff from my disk without my consent is outrageous.

Redownloading 2.3GB will take me ages again, so thank you very much for that big screw-up.

So, if this took me over my monthly cap, will Valve pay off my fine with my ISP?

IIRC portal was found under "steamapps\unsername" it has now been moved to "steamapps\common\" This is probably just another "platform update"

Hit me too. Like 6gb for Portal 2! Mostly Valve games, but a few that weren't (Magicka, Dungeons of Dreadmor, etc.)

Turn off automatic updates if it's a problem

If you have a monthly cap so strict that a little less than 2 and a half gigs is going to put you over at the beginning of the month, you should not have auto-updates enabled.

I'm guessing it's the Steampipe conversion.
