Portal Graphics Problem

Does anyone can help me? I can't change some graphics settings and i have very primitive appearance of portals

Here are screen shots ( sorry for the polish version )

Please help i dont know where the solution is.

Game reverted back to Directx 8, portals being the most noticable change. Add "-dxlevel 90" or "+mat_level 92" to your startup options to force it back into Directx 9.

Doing this forces is back into Directx 9, but it will also reset any in-game video options back to default. So after you do it, you need to take the lines out of your startup options and hopefully it'll stay in directx 9 afterwards.
