Worth it if you like stuff like Fable and have no attatchment to the Gothic series?
I have played the Gothic games. I got G2 when it was new and even preordered Gothic 3 and Risen. They are alright. Unlike the majority of this forum though I have no emotional attatchment to the games so I will not be screaming BETRAYAL like I am some Spoony reject if the game is not 100% like the other games.
I hear this game is a very simple ARPG, which can be a good genre, but I really doubt this has the charm of games like Fable. I'm sure I will get a few throwaway English-as-a-third-language replies about how I will love this game because I dare enjoy games that aren't hardcore RPGs just for mentioning Fable, but ignoring people on the internet is easy and satisfying (just like in real life!)
Does this game have any underlying charm? Is the combat satisfying? I am going to play with he sound off and skipping the story so no worries about poor writing or voice acing.
I am mostly looking to get a digital version of Gothic 3 so I never have to bother with the disc again and the deal for the whole Gothic series is too good to pass up if I can get something extra out of it besides G3 (and before you say it, I already have the vanilla G2, no way am I interested in the difficulty spike the expansion / gold version gives).
