As A Gothic/Risen Fan, DO NOT BUY IT !
You waste your money, gothic 4 has nothing to do with the other gothics , it sucks !

At least it works better then the rest in the series for me, i love this game, played through it 4-5 times. It's more action based sure, but still a good game.

I doubt whether you've played the previous Gothics - it references the previous games throughout. Sure, the gameplay is relatively undemanding but it's slick and good at what it sets out to do, especially once you get beyond the prologue.

Hating a game just because it isn't like certain other games is also a weird reason to hate it... I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't in a humble bundle at one point but it isn't a bad game

Seems this game gets hate for the same reason Zelda 2 did.....

This game is just bad. I played gothic 3 for a while until I get fed up with it and thought this "dumbed down" version may be fun. Played Fable III and had lots of fun. But this just sucks. 4 collectible quests with 30 items each randomly scattered throughout the world? LOL! You have to thorougly inspect every little square-inch to find them and dont even get a hint if you got an area clear.

Thanks to the ridiculous "transporter" youd even have to walk all the way back IF there was a counter to tell you how many are left in an area.

And why cant I adjust the camera?!?! Or at least get a very closeup camera for aiming the bow? For running around it is too close so I dont have much overview and keep running into monsters.

Thanks to the bad optimized engine my gfx-card is constantly overheating if I dont clock it down manually - no matter what setting I use and no its not my card! I can run new games on a decent setting in 1080p without my card roaring at me.

And if I go to a shop it doesnt even show which recipes I already own. ok minor point but then theres still the supersized crafting-icon ALWAYS on screen because the stuff I COULD craft is just crap that is of no use at all.

Edit: oh yeah, almost forgot.. theres just a bunch of npc models so youre talkin to the same guy over and over just with a different nametag.

Isn't Fable a kids game...like an easy hold your hand rpg?

You're right about the collectable quests. I have scoured the lands I have travelled. I have criss-crossed everywhere, and looked around the back of everything. Yet still I have maybe only a quarter of the collectables that I should have at the point I reached. I have arrived at a place where I have to decide do I go on and leave the collectables. Or do I use an internet guide and go get them.

The transporters aren't toooo bad. I think you can transport between two, then walk to the next and then transport the next two.

The bow can be zoomed later when you aquire the skills points and add it to your character.

The optimisation is odd that is a seriously accurate point, but it doesn't affect my card. I can max it and add AA. It seems to affect CPUs, whereas even powerful CPUs produce choppy performance.

Shops and recipes already owned. You can see the recipes you own in your inventory, when in the shop. (Recipes are very easy to use. You can't re-learn a recipe you have already learnt, because the game stops you.) However if you have already learned a recipe, I don't know if it prevents you from buying it again. I haven't checked that yet. Then I doubt I'd buy a recipe coz I got loads from the game anyway.

It is not bad, good locking graphics, stable only a few bugs,
but it makes me having fun.

I almost finished the game. It not bad at all. Standard game play just like any 3rd person RPG. The jumping feels like you're floating somewhat. It's a easy RPG tho. Unlike Risen everybody should be able to beat it on normal.

Actually, when Forsaken Gods were out, I thought, that there will be no worse game than FG. I was wrong. Arcania is even worse... I am comparing fully patched G3FG.

I've played through this game twice, 360 and PC, and plan on playing through it again on PS3. Enjoyed it, and since it's always on sale somewhere its worth it. PS I have it on my PC but not on steam.
