Don't waste your money. This game is so buggy it crashes in odd places, works some times and crashes again at big transition points disallowing one to continue the main campaign. I've contacted steam to ask for a refund, but unless we all tell them how unhappy we are with this title, they will not give it.

They should have fixed this game before selling it to us.

it USED to work, last year when I bought it I installed and it worked just fine, however since their release for their new exp pack it seems to not work.

fixed it, some doof ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up a patch and the resolution settings are backwards (9x16) so I swaped it to 16x9 and it works.

There is in fact a well-known game breaking camera bug which crops up during puzzle sequences (the levers puzzle at Fireforge, the mosaic puzzle at Crystal Forest). A patch is available now ( http://spellforce2.com/sf2/?lang=en&rid=1419 ), although I can't vouch for it as it didn't work for me (I may have applied it incorrectly). The bug only occurs in the Gold Edition, owing to the fact that a coding conflict occurs when both game are installed together (Dragon Storm bugs Shadow Wars I believe). I ended up buying the two games separately (they were $2 each on sale at GOG.com), but unfortunately that site doesn't sell the games any more due to licensing/ownership issues. An outstanding series with a troubled history, and yes I don't believe Steam should be selling the Gold Edition as long as it contains an acknowledged game breaking bug.

Edit 2/15/2015: As of this date GamersGate is selling Shadow Wars and Dragon Storm separately with no bugs (I completed them both).

The camera bug only occurs during the puzzle sequences later in the game, and it doesn't happen for everyone. I experienced the bug in Win7 32-bit.

Had to uninstall the game after putting close to 15hours (off and on) into it. Just kept crashing too much.

Never had any crashes myself (Win7, 32), just the camera bug, and a patch is available for that (although I personally cannot vouch for the patch).

i play this with no problems, just have very easy to fix a 16:10 widescreen.

I bought this game, only to recieve some knockoff warcraft 2 game. It wasn't even Spellforce 2 as it was in the trailer. Totally different game. They would not refund my money as well; it's not my fault there was counterfeit software.

This is one of my favorite franchises, don't give up. I recommend getting the separate games from GamersGate, they're $9.99 each right now but they go on sale regularly.

For me, the game does not even starts. Steam just restarts its launch mini window over and over again, and I don't even see anything "Spellforcish" at all, not even an image for loading the game. Just that steam thing that opens, loads 2 sec, then closes, reopens 2 sec, then closes, etc.

Only issue I had was crashing intro. Esc out of intro and game runs no problems whatsoever :)

ps who the heck still runs a 32bit system?
