is there a prequel for Spellforce: Platinum campaigns?
Hello all,

nice to see there's still an audience for this oldie but goodie.

I just started playing it for the first time, ever, and I'm a bit confused with an intro and the start of first campaign. I found in forums that The Order of Dawn is "The Campaign", Breath of Winter is "Aryn Campaign" and Shadow of the Phoenix is, ofc, "Phoenix campaign". But the way first campaign starts - the big battle, magicians duking it out in a tower, world collapses, warriors on a mission asking the help of now-retired former ally, main character is awoken after 8 years... It all seems like a continuation of earlier story. So, is there a prequel for this, or I'm missing something, or it's just the way it is?

Thanks in advance, I'd really like to play this in order :)

for some reason i think this game is a "what if" scenario in the Lord of the Rings universe

There's no prequel, "Order of Dawn" is the first chapter of the series. There's some explanation of events provided in the tutorial mission, for which reason I recommend to beat it at least once. Other than that, the game simply makes an effort to submerge you into the very thick of events. It's the way it's supposed to work, don't worry.

There is no prequel, but you should look at Evil Islands: Curse of the Lost Soul. It was released before SpellForce and shares similarities.

Thanks, it really feels it starts from the middle, nice to know it's intentional. And I'll certainly look at those Evil Islands :)

Also, the ending of The Order of Dawn sheds a small amount of light on what happens in the intro.

The end explains the beginning, you aren't meant to know who those characters are yet.

during the game some people will tell you bits of what happened, this is mostly about the convocation war, who the 2 wizards are and why they're fighting will be revealed when you finish the game

Well, the games don't have anything to do with Lord of the Rings, or Evil Islands, although developers probably got islands idea from there. :) But I agree with the rest, however, the game has a LOT of the lore.

Also, Spellforce 3 is being made, and seems like on the forums, ideas are being taken, and most people are favoring that Spellforce 3 tells more of the story from before the Order of Dawn. :)

Lets hope the gameplay is a hybrid of SF1 and 2, the good parts at least.

p.s. A lot of what happened and some other explanations will be given in the breath of winter campaign and the 2 shadow of the phoenix campaigns

Tried to install this game and the game wouldn't recognise my keyboard to enter the CD key. I uninstalled it and the game had disappeared from my library! Steam just said to contact the publisher! Then I decided to install Silverfall, and despite it being a 10GB install mentioned all over he web Steam says it needs 21gb! I don't know what is going on with Seam!

Maybie it was a scam or something?

Spellforce Platinum works fine for me. I have Steam version, too. you can always contact them on official forums.

I just started it yesterday as well, when you get to the second Island (2ish hours in to the game) you will meet a guy called Darius and you can ask him about the Convocation, Circle mages, what rune warriors were etc. I had no idea what was happening in the intro either so it helped make a bit more sense.

Odd, I done many time, Darius don't said very much of rune warrior otherthan hint he don't like rune warrior playing game or something. Same thing for circle mages, but he only speak that Rohan guility from convocation war, but that's about it., no deeper of detail.
