Thee best of the series (IMHO). In addition to my Steam time I also had the original discs. Back in the day Night of the Raven wasn't as easily found so I bought the Steam version a few years ago when I saw it had it included. This made this even bigger and more epic. I am a huge fan of the Gothic series. This one and the first one are better because you actually need skill and timing to prevail in combat. Did I mention timing? You can't go into your next swing too fast or late, adjusted by skill level, or you will fail. None of that button mashing lameness in other RPGs (Divinity 2 for example) or annoying cut scene executions (usually one button, no skill needed, and repetitive). THIS IS NOT MOUSE FRIENDLY. There ya go. I said it. Now get past it. Once you adjust to playing straight keyboard (rather quickly) it will not take away from the experience. Open world, no hand holding waypoints for ten year olds. Diverse world with MANY hidden bonuses for those who know to look in the nooks, high and low, in RPG worlds to find suprise gear/mobs. The dialogue needs to be listened to but it isn't overwhelming. Older graphics but engaging play mechanics is higher on my priorities. Need cutting edge graphics, on rails, lameness, go buy a console or port. That is all they make for the most part for RPGs. If you like hard core RPGs this was made for you. BTW, If you get the black screen at start you need to modify it to launch in compatibility mode Wndows XP service pack 3 AND launch as an administartor.
