Lose Turn Switching Weapons
Love the game so far. But really wish you did not lose a turn when switching weapons. It really sucks when you switch a weapon then get frozen. Its like lossing 4+ turns, and that hurts when fighting a boss or large group.

I really like that, because this way you have to think before you fight against enemys. Switching weapons without loosing a turn would make the game way to easy.

I understand why its like that. It would be easier if you could switch from say a bow to a spear. But switching from a weapon to a spell should be fine. Its just really anoying when you have to switch and get frozen right after. Hopefully it does not happen to offten. Just hope being frozen or stuned does't happen to offten in the game. It always sucks when you can't do anything for so many turns. Just sitting there waiting for your turn is never fun.

Edit: Forgot to mention another reason for switching weapons. It adds variety and choice to the combat. The way it is now your more likely to just stick with 1 weapon. Also if it makes the game easier they can just make the enemies harder.

Perhaps an enchantment that let's you swap without penalty would satisfy everyone.

That would be kinda like the awesome stuff you see find on boots from time to time.

For example, Immunity To Ground Hazards and Extra Turn.

Taking a turn to switch has always been a controversial decision through this project. It didn't always used to be that way so know that I've played a *lot* in both modes over the development of the game ... but I strongly feel that having the turn penalty for the switch is necessary, without it you can breeze through all enemies no matter what your situation and I didn't have to hardy think about anything ever during combat.

This might sound even more controversial but how about a move +1 action per turn system instead? Say we can always move 1 space no matter what. But on top of that we can get 1 action as well. This action could be swap weapon/spell, attack or skip/end turn.

I think this could add more to combat as it will give us a way to retreat as well as ready our weapon or attack. Keep in mind we could never move 2 spaces or attack twice.

Sounds like D&D rules which I don't think would apply well here IMO unless the whole system is redone to account for actions/bonus/free actions etc. Monsters would have to behave the same way. In D&D you can move and do one action like attack or cast a spell (swapping weapons IIRC is a free action) I kind of like it the way it is right now but yes it did cross my mind at first about weapon swap but knew it would make combat a lot easier.

The thing is right now some of the monsters already do have 2 moves or a move and an attack or 2 attacks if right next to you. So I think this might level the playing field a bit.

Remember that many spells are instants. I personally like the switch weapon penalty. Altough I think a "quick draw" enchantment for swords (low percentage to get) wouldn't be too extreme.

If you don't want to be frozen use Shield spell. It is instant, you don't need to switch from weapon to the Shield spell on the hotbar. And there are other instant spells too, and they are realy helpfull....like Sentinel (first spell in lightning tree) cheap, draws enemy attention from you, and have good damage, only downside is the random placement.
I only use 1 melee weapon (mostly sword or a good staff) and 1 ranged (high damage chakram)
and don't switch too often in the midle of a battle.

Maybe you can make the first switch in combat for free and the next ones cost movement?

... or we cant choose that in options ourself?

just buff the hp on monsters and let the weapon switch
