Sid Meier's Pirates!

Sid Meier's Pirates!

Completely annoying
now, with many people, they love Sid and his quality games but this is just low quality compared to his Civilization series.

Firstly, launching the game is a process that includes changing your screen resolution to match the games resolution of 800x600

OR you can alter the ini file in My Games\Pirates folder to get into the game.

Next is the lack of widescreen support, even if I mod the ini file it lacks the widescreen support and it just crops the top and bottom then stretches the rest so that it appears to be compatible.

3rd, now this is the most annoying part, it's DRM is just annoying... too annoying in fact! I launch it through Steam as I do with Skyrim and many other games and I get welcomed by "Please install steam"

Firaxis, please... use the same developers that made Civilization and pump out some real games because this Pirates remake is just a blow to the guts,

It's always worked fine for me, even on older computers, but then I again I have the retail version, not steam.

Never had any problems and I have the steam version.

still not the point Lukkan, when a developer releases a game, they should at least have it released for the computers of that time, such as widescreen support and the part where you have to restart Steam? compatibility issues are just not good enough if they expect us to pay $9.95 for it

Actually this game runs perfectly fine. I have a Core 2 Duo @ 2.6GHZ with 2.5GBs of ram, with a Gefroce 9500GT GPU running full screen, wide screen mode, without any problems. I have NEVER had any problems with this game on any computer I own.

I have never had any problems with the DRM, I wasn't even aware there WAS any DRM for this game.

I think it's you and your set up.

I will agree with jeremy the game is just fine I never had any problem either. This game is old you can’t be expecting to support 16:9 resolutions.

to clarify, I'm not playing the 1980's version, I'm playing the version that was developped after widescreen was well established.

http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp I invite you to look at the "average" display in 2004 when this game was released. Set your monitor to put black bars and run it in 1600x1200 and enjoy one of the better games ever made.

I've only just bought it a month ago. Aside from a small glitch that made me restart steam before I could play it the first time, I've never had any problems.

To be fair, this game was designed for like windows XP, and we are on mostly 7. Little bit of a technology jump, this game is just like any other old game like Age Of Empires or whatever, a little tweaking that is simple and should be all over youtube or Game Forums can be done that makes anything run like a charm except Saints Row 2 and Call of Duty.
I paid 5€ for it, well worth the money, it's a classic remake, the game is just like the original, only better, if you want something else than -this- game, why the hell did you even bother to buy it? And on a further note, this game was created before your stupid widescreen/1900's+ resolutions. Quit whining.

Excellent game, no issues here. I have owned this game for every system Ive seen it for. Found it originally on my Sega Genesis. Just picked this up. No issues at all.

looks like someone can't read the dates on posts, I feel no pity for you except the part where you are 6 months late, I found a solution,

lol? It's not a remake, Im not sure where the surprise is in a 2000 game not working well in current machines, plus I remember playing it about 2-3 years ago and it working fine.
