Leveling grind increase at level 50.
Ugh...was leveling along pretty quickly and as soon as I hit 50 the required XP for 51 quadrupled compared to 49-50. I'm doing just story quests in Cape Jule which is what I've read is the fastest way to level 50-60. It's still such a slog.

Yeah it is. It's part of the reason why my cleric sits at level 51. The level 50-60 experience represents the portion of the game that was added during the Storm Legion expansion pack.

It is a considerably larger grind than the earlier portion of the game, but imo, it isn't that much different from how Burning Crusade/Wrath/Cata/Pandaria is as an XP grind for WoW at the beginning of an expansion cycle.

Yeah, I know that's just how expansion pack grinding is in a lot of these theme park MMOs, but gah, why can't one of these games break the mold and cool it a bit on the grinding? I've got other ♥♥♥♥ to do and other games to play as well!

It's only a grind because your focus is on getting to the end and not on how you get there. Storm Legion, if you play through all of its content, is probably more to do than in the original game, but it only has ten levels of experience space in which to deliver it. I hit 60 with my cleric and I was only halfwayish through Brevane, and I'd skipped all of Stillmoor, Shimmersands and Ember Isle.

Yeah, my focus is on getting to the end cause that's where MMO's are more interesting to me. Quest grinding just isn't that compelling to me. I don't care about the story line or quest text. I just follow the markers on the mini-map and complete them as fast as possible.

I'd just for once like to see an MMO that doesn't rely upon so much grinding to get to the important stuff.

people went apesh1t that you could buy gear (which wasn't even remotely BIS). imagine what would happen if they sell a boost.

not that I mind, people have been buying accounts for years. either you're a scrub or not, grinding quests for 60 levels won't change that...

If I'm not mistaken, I think you can buy *almost* BIS gear now. Granted, the cost is hilariously high (a Raid 2 2H weapon costs more than 19,000 credits, which is more than $100 worth), but I suppose someone with deep pockets could definitely buy his/her way to nearly best gear (best currently level gear afaik is Raid 3).

haven't played in a few months, back then it was dungeon blues iirc to jump directly into raiding (and quite a lot of people complained about it)
daglar said they would never sell BIS, but as I said don't know if that has changed.

that being said if people want to buy it instead of grinding weeks for it, it's their money :squirtyay:

Yeah I just checked, it costs something like 108,000 credits to buy the full Raid 2 bundle, so its about $600 for a full set of weapons (non-upgraded, mind you, so you still need to do some "work") and a full set of armor. I think Daglar stated that every time they release a new raid tier, the previous raid tier will become available for sale.

His statement (never selling BiS) is still true in the sense that you cannot specifically purchase Raid 3 Gear in the store, but you *can* purchase the marks/tokens you need for Raid 3 Gear through an item in the store, though anyone who would bother gearing up that way has too much money (it would prob take tens of thousands of dollars of credits to get Raid 3 Gear that way).

considering there are people dropping 3-4 digits of money per month in some f2p games, you could say it's justified since there's a market for it. :tgrin:

reminds me to finish my stuff before the expansion hits and all the SL zones are deserted... :summermoon:

I found the levelling from 50 really not that bad. You have to make sure to be in the storm legion zones of course. Doing the story quests and doing dungeons in the meanwhile was pretty good for me.
