Sid Meier's Civilization III: Complete

Should I get it?
For only the small price, it seems very worth it and money definitly isn't an issue. I just want to know, is it fun playing this game considering I've never played any of the civ games? I do love strategy games very much. Should I just skip to 5?

Get it definitly do

Its large scale compare to the new ones if you play huge maps or if you make your own.
AI isnt the smartest but that never really improves with any CIV game.
On any dificulty it plays teh same way it just gets bigger starting bonus and that makes a big diference in first turns making you backwards country for centurys

Sadly AI has trouble with crossing the sea or ocean efectivly so single mass continent might be best if you dont want guaranteed win

I higly recomend this sadly itsquite tiem consuming one game can go up to 24 hours without micromanadging cities (that can be handeled by AI automaticly if you wish)

I've played since Civ2 and 3 is defiantly the one I've sunk the most time into.
Partly because 4 was too intensive for my system at the time but I thought 4 was too 'cartoony' in appearance (Although I enjoyed the combat promotions).
Civ5 is fantastic too.
for 75p though, Civ 3 is well worth it.

Thank you guys for that nudge. I think I will get 3 and also get 5. For $12.49 with all the addons is an amazing steal :)

Of all the Civilization games, I think 3 is the best. IMO later games were more about eye candy than game play. You won't go wrong for $1.24 (if sale is still going on)

Thank you for this post, i was also tempted to buy and now i decided... i'll buy the 3 and take the demo of 5 :P...

Lol, how can they be eye-candy when they've added tons of awesome game mechanics and additions. I've only really played civ3, 4 and 5 but they differ from each other greatly. Each of them seems very different than the one before so it's worth getting them all if you're a civ fan.

Saying that civ3 is the best is just biased for the most part. Nostalgia doesn't dettermine how good the game is...
Civ3 has far less content than 4 and 5 but they play differently so it's a matter of preference really. They're all great.

hehe I played a bit of 3 and it's definitely a fun game, and i can see where people say that a game can take a very long time to finish. I'm glad i can help you while being helped myself haha.

Also, you shouldn't really be using steam forums for civilization :).

I have played 'em all from 1...and they are all good games and imo quite different. I think 4 is the most challenging (bts version). civ 3 and civ 5 make a good pair though...very different games.

I found 3 kind of dry but i do still play from time to time. I love civ 5 and all DLC its a great game.

Oh, god, this game is so worth it. Get it. If you like turn-based strategy, you will not regret it @_@

For me Civ 3 was a huge disapointment. Not even worth waht ever price they set out. I would paly Civ 2 but I have windows 7 so I can't play it :(
