The word "Complete" refers to the fact that this version of Civilization III includes the two expansion packs, Play The World and Conquests, and all the patches that were released for it.

Play The World added the multiplayer mode, eight new civilizations, an improved interface, an enhanced scenario editor, and new units/city improvements/wonders.

Conquests added nine additional scenarios, as well as new units, technologies, resources, wonders, government types, diplomancy options, civilization attributes, difficulty levels, and loads of other little changes and improvements to the gameplay, thus resulting in a more balanced and engrossing experience.

worth it for first time players like me? i ask cause i like strat games but am not a huge fan of them
