Base/house Strategy

Hello - i am a new player

Where is the best place to build your base/house?

Can you only build in the starting area?
Do you only need 1 base?
Im guessing the best place is near water? or near that lamp/sign with a house picture on it?
Does size matter? Can it be large or is smaller better?

Hey,

Theres areas on the map that have a house symbol, you can only build in those áreas, as for the water, you can forage in water sources for clay and sand to make mortar, with mortar you can make wells, so you dont need to worry about water, just make a well and you can gather water from it, you can build whatever you want, the lodge project or a custom build house with the know building recipes and structures to auto gather(lumber mill, quarry, mine,etc) and you can build more then 1 on the building area.

Well, our goal was to lead you to build more shelters as you would need them during exploration, however survival aspects of the game are not yet finished, so at the moment, number and size does not matter. As said above, there are predefined spots, but this is only temp solution, as it's possible that map will require some tweaks in future and with this, we want to avoid any collisions with already built structures. So, there is plan to enable building anywhere on the map.

i guess the more shelter type things would be for when unlimited map sizes become a thing ?
