Making Fairy Pupils Seems Unhelpful?

You can make the Fairy Pupils in the Magic Shop. To do this, take one of the four more expensive items from the shop, the music book, hourglas, cross, and pocket watch, and then combine any of them with the pillow. That will create a Fairy Pupil.

The Fairy Pupil increases your profits for 5 days, roughly doubling them-ish.

Using Fairy Pupil working all 5 days= 300ish gold

300-150 for items= 150 gold

-10 crystal for transformation

You get set back 10 crystals, and gain 150 gold


Not using Fairy Pupil and working 5 days= 150ish gold

So...the Fairy Pupil....doesn't seem to help that much....<<. Using multiple Fairy Pupils just adds more days to how long they last. It does not double up the price any.

Am I missing something? It seems odd to make the Fairy Pupils so hard to get, and yet not really be helpful.

I bought all of the items (not food) and tried combining them with the pillow and this is what I got:

Book+Pillow=Caramel Macchiatio
Kaleidoscope+Pillow=Caramel Macchiatio
Rose+Pillow=Caramel Macchiatio
Teacup+Pillow=Caramel Macchiatio
Music Book+Pillow=Fairy Pupil
Hourglass+Pillow=Fairy Pupil
Cross+Pillow=Fairy Pupil
Watch+Pillow=Fairy Pupil

Then, I tried combining them with food, and got this, ignoring the dress recipes:
The cheaper items (book, kaleudoscope, rose, and teacup) don't combine with the food.

Music Book+Mocha=2 Fairy pupils
Music Book+Cappucino=2 Fairy pupils
Music Book+Caramel Macchiato=2 Fairy pupils
Hourglass+Mocha=2 Fairy pupils
Hourglass+Cappucino=2 Fairy pupils

So, if we do method two where you combine an expensive item, food, and a pillow, it costs:

100 gold for item+
10 gold for the transformation+
150 gold for food+
50 gold for pillow+
25 crystals for food+
10 crystals for pillow
=310 gold and 35 crystals

Using two pupils, working for two weeks straight, only resting the last day of each week, got me:
Week 1: 310 gold, one day didn't have the pupil applied to it
Week 2: 330, one day didn't have the pupil applied to it
=640
-310 for everything you need for pupils
=330 total

The numbers above also includes working one day at the item shop in order to get crystals.

Working the same schedule as above without the crystals got me:
Week 1: 170 gold
Week 2: 170 gold
=340 total

Even making two pupils, I still wound up making more money not making them. So, the pupils still seem like they aren't very useful. I guess I coul still be missing a transformation combination that gets you more than two.
