What am i doing??

I just got this game and played a bit but what am i doing?? there is no tutorial , i didnt see any quests etc. I guess what im asking is what is the goal .

The goal is to beat the game. You do that by entering each of the blue portals on the map, and entering rooms to defeat waves of enemies. Once you find the exit in one of the rooms, you are free to leave the area and count it as completed. Once you clear an area, a lock is removed from the boss level. Remove all the locks, beat the boss, and then move on to the next zone. You do that 3 times, and the 3rd zone contains the final boss. You want to collect as many items as you can on the way through the game to become as powerful as possible before the boss.
