Planet Centauri status of june 24
Multiplayer
The multiplayer mode still has problems, so it doesn't come out this week on the stable branch.
But the multiplayer is almost playable, so it will come out tonight on the unstable branch, to report bugs.
/!\ Be careful however, it's unstable, so BACKUP your SAVE files before /!\

Known bugs:
-hell portal don't work -transformation magic don't work -capture don't work (but pet invocation work well) -NPCs are not synchronized -breeding chickens are not synchronized -plants don't grow -monster spawns are bugged - focus is only on the server's player -chests open animation is not synchronized -balls are not synchronized -some doors problems -players death/life is poorly synchronized, can cause character duplication -if there are >= 3 players, if a player die, other client can crash -there is no chat -crystal teleport don't work for clients (teleport on the corner of the world) -no audio for drops/souls (clients only) -rain is not synchronized -tree sound is not spacialized -drop fusion is not activated -decorations dupplications -can put blocks from the hand of another player -monsters life/death can be desynchronized -client loading can be very long even if the world is totaly downloaded -chests fast move don't work (not synchronized)

As you see fighting and game progression have several problems.
But the building functionalities should work well.

Also, I have tested the game with one server and one client, so at the moment there may be many bugs with more than one client.

Unstable branch
The unstable branch (only for windows users), allows you to test the next patch and to give feedback. When the patch seems to be stable enough, it passes in main branch.

/!\ Be careful, backup your save folder ("your documents/Planet Centauri") before testing the unstable branch /!\

How to test the unstable branch:
In your steam library, right-click on planet centauri, go to betas and add this code to unlock the branch: 1234567654321
Then choose the right branch. At this point the game is now Planet Centauri [unstable].

When the tests are done, you can return to the stable branch with the same procedure.

So where is all the promised content? And yes every game has bugs... but I recons things are taking longer and longer and this tittle might be sucker into the abys of other EA games that takes longer to finish and never can be trusted in terms of dates being set.

Read closer... See : "early access"! Crazy, huh? I recall Starbound had soooo many features when it came in Early Access on Steam! Heh, no.

Oh, you do? The three dots seems to be here *just* because you're gonna say something that has nothing to do with this and with that part supposed to act as a flawless sheild.

... welp ... Sigh. Only multiplayer took more time than expected. Remind me : Since when is Rocket League supposed to come to OS X & Linux? Almost one year. Since when is Starbound in Early Access? I've actually lose count. It's totally Hofstadter's law here. "Hofstadter's Law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law." Deadlines sucks. Planet Centauri is not the first game to have features delayed, and not the last.

Considering you played 120+ hours in Starbound : http://playstarbound.com/previous-release-date-delays/
To quote that guy :
"Realistically there are only three types of games..

(...)

Games that are delayed. Games that aren’t remembered for their development period or the number of times they were delayed, but the care and attention lavished upon them in that time. (let’s not talk about Duke Nukem Forever)."

As someone who works with Unity, believe me when I say networking is the most annoying part. They've got to make sure that the connection works through firewalls, NAT, etc and also make sure that things that work in singleplayer work the same in Multiplayer.

For what the game is, there is a lot already. Just be patient and they'll surely deliver.

Glad to know it's getting close to complete, multiplayer alone adds a lot. Would it be too soon to ask if there will be a few other things released alongside it? Small things obviously, such as cows to obtain milk or a new armor set?

For the moment there is only two priorities:
-multiplayer
-fighting system upgrades

Small things will come later :)

Waiting for updates is so exciting, it's like waiting for Christmas. This game has a lot of potential to be something great. I'm already enjoying it so much thatI can't even imagine how I'll feel when it's finished.

Let me guess you've developed a game in 2 months flat that's 100% perfect with no bugs or problems that has all the content it will ever need. No, then chill out and give them time they are working as hard as they can and unlike AAA companies they actually care what we think and take it in into account when making the game.

I've actually ranted about all the Whining a few times, but to be honest they have a road map and things are coming along nicely. When i first started playing to now its a million miles from where it started. If you remember terraria went on for years in development. Minecraft was in developement for nearly a decade because of tweeks and more content.

Theres a hundred other games which you could reel off which have taken far longer than this game, Long dark has been nearly 2 years. At the end of the day they are regularly updating and even getting the community involved and asking for your suggestions which is very rare.

personally i love the development and watching it grow. Maybe if you can do better then crack on and stop b***hing.

the game rocks!!!! Keep it up planet centauri :-D

So... since multiplayer is priority for "everyone", there'll be no updates in other areas of game, until you solved major problems and bugs related to multiplayer?

I work also on the new fighting system but there are many things to do, so for the moment the next update should be for multiplayer and bug fix.
