Yes it is!
Assuming you're running this in Windows(Let me know if you aren't), here is how you do this:
Open C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Earthworm Jim/Earthworm Jim 2
(Remove " (x86)" from Program Files, if you're using a 32-Bit PC), edit the file "ewj2.conf", and change "fullscreen=false" to "fullscreen=true". While you're at it, you can adjust the scaling setting(I recommend normal2x, or normal3x. Whichever looks better, although some people like special scalers which add fancy effects. The best way to see if you like them is to just test them out).

Cool, thanks for the reply. I'm running Win 8 Pro 64 Bit and I have Steam in a custom directory. So guess I just need to edit the config file. I shall try this shortly. Thanks!

So, have you tried it? And if so, did it work?

Yea it works mostly. Getting an odd issue with the sound now. I'll have to mess around with the settings a little more. Thanks for pointing me to where I needed to go.

Yeah, the joypad setup for the first two Earthworm Jim games here on Steam is pretty terrible. Especially the first one.

I know this thread is a lil old, but I've been having color scheme problems when I changed the config to "fullscreen=true". anyone know how to fix this?

In EWJ1 and 2, the fullscreen colour messups are mostly* unavoidable in the DOS version of EWJ1 and 2.

However, there is a solution -- don't play this version of EWJ1 and 2. Seriously, they are the worst main versions of the games. Instead, go for the Windows 95 version. It has a minor sound bug on modern OSes that can be fixed in a couple of minutes(Let me know if you want to know how), but it also has a bonus level, and you don't have to run the game through DOSBox.

*Of course, if you're determined to play the DOS version, I did once manage to fix the colours. I can't remember exactly how, but basically, it boils down to toggling fullscreen at specific points during the game's startup. But, again, I can't remember exactly how I did it, so I don't know if it was a one-in-a-million thing, but there you go.

EDIT: Oh, one tip for fixing the colours: If the colours are messed up in the main menu, you've fixed it. You'll see what I mean when you get into the game.

i'm running tv alt enter does not work on 360 controller ...unless i map it to joy2key but, that should not be needed.

EWJ1 can go fullscreen quite easily - Go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Earthworm Jim/Earthworm Jim 1
Find the .conf file, and change "Fullscreen=false" to "Fullscreen=true". It will then start in fullscreen.
