Earthworm Jim

Earthworm Jim

A Warning to People Who Don't Want to Get Ripped Off!
Earthworm Jim 1 + 2 are played through DosBox. The screen is about a quarter the size of you monitor and if you fullscreen it the colour palette f***'s up (this could just be me). The DosBox version has LESS levels than the Sega Megadrive/Genesis version. The entire soundtrack is MISSING from Earthworm Jim 3D, and certain sound effects are also missing from the first two games. The full working versions of these games can be found on Ebay for pennies, yet Valve wants to charge use £15 for broken cr*p. I just paid £5 and feel that i overpaid £4.99.

DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME! JUST EMULATE OR BUY FROM ELSEWHERE!

you just saved me some cash. Thanks!
Shut up and don't take my money? lol
Yeah I was really excited too cuz I thought this was the HD version thet they had released. You saved me from a bad purchase.
Oh, wow. Thanks for the warning.
Maybe I should start reading the forums before I buy things. Oh well.
Emulate Earthworm Jim Special Edition for the MegaCD for the most complete experience (sick soundtrack too)
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ does this version suck. I still enjoy the game a lot, but the controls are just miserable. Even with Joy To Key, this doesn't work.
holy hearts is right
Thanks for the warning. I was thinking of getting this too...
thx for the heads up almost got this
oh dam thanks for warning,,so controller does not work of course, this sucks becuase they suck you in with nostalgia i hope this isnt a starting trend im seeing with poor quality control
yeah too late for me.....I feel so cheated....
Мда, жаль. Ну да пофиг.:sfsad:
Good advice, although you're preaching to the choir.
I still like to have this version, though, since it's the only version of Earthworm Jim 3D or 2 that I own.
Oh, and I'd like to add something to this - something very important - and that's that the best version of the game is the Windows 95 version(It's a perfect PC port of the Mega-CD/Sega CD version, with a few bits added, such as 256-colour graphics instead of 64). It works on all versions of Windows from 95 upwards, and should work on Linux via Wine. Although, I'd like to point out that the Win95 version has a sound bug on XP and upwards that can be fixed really easily(Google "Getting the Various Versions of Earthworm Jim to Work on New PC" and scroll down to the section on the Win95 version for the fix. It takes 2 minutes or more depending on your internet speed).
So, TL;DR, the Windows 95 version is the best one(Mega-CD/Sega CD is second place), and if you get a sound bug, read what I said in the brackets just before this paragraph.
EDIT: The Rocketworm Forum was taken down, so the steps to fix EWJ are as follows: Copy all the files to your Hard Drive(You'll be running the game from this folder, although you'll still need the disc in your drive or it will refuse to run), download WAIL.DLL(It should be the version from 2003, if I remember correctly), and replace the one that is in the folder that you copied all the files to from the EWJ CD. When you want to play the game, put the CD in your drive, and run the game from WORM.EXE inside the ASSETS folder of where you copied all the Earthworm Jim stuff to. Enjoy. :)

I like it's over 1 gig large while the rom for the snes is like a few hundred kilbytes.
I can't believe this was even put on steam. Feels like a cheap ROM.
