Actually, Earthworm Jim HD pales in comparison to the Windows 95 port from 1996(Which you can get dirt-cheap on places like eBay these days) for various reasons, most of which stem form the fact that the Earthworm Jim HD Developers(Most of whom were outsourced from China), had no access to any of the design docs or anything from the original games, and Gameloft didn't bother to ask any of the creators of the original game for any help. Instead, they were given a cartridge of the Mega Drive/Genesis version of the game, and a Mega Drive/Genesis to play it on. From that, they had to copy the level designs, and then everything else had to be done by scratch, and they didn't do it very well, because the art for Jim himself makes it look like his face has no proper structure, a level is missing, the difficulty is about half of what it was in the original versions, the multiplayer is not fun at all, and one of the pieces of art in the game was ripped from DeviantArt without the original artist's permission. Oh, and I'm almost certain that none of the original developers of Eathworm Jim get any money from HD.

TL;DR: Earthworm Jim HD isn't very good. If you want Earthworm Jim on your PC, get the Windows 95 port(Which is the cheapest version to buy, currently).

Will the Windows 95 version even run on modern computers like Windows 7 or 8?

The CD version works kind of bad on win 7 and 8 but excellent on win xp, while the steam version works fine on at least windows 7, i've never tried win 8.

Actually, the Win95 version works better than any other version of the game I've played(Once you fix the sound, of course, which only takes about 3 minutes). Including HD(Although I've never played either of the Mega Drive/Genesis versions, however I do plan to eventually).

EDIT: To all who want to know how to fix the sound, I posted instructions in the "A Warning To People Who Don't Want To Get Ripped Off" discussion.

You'll be better off emulating Sega CD version, which is the same as Win95 version.

Not really, since the Sega CD/Mega-CD version is a bit expensive to buy(£50 is the cheapest I've been able to find it), and emulation is illegal in most cases(Especially if you don't actually own the game).
