i´ve bought the game now,and it don´t run

Great game, super fun! I am a little bit stumped with an intermittent problem though. I have a Hori GemPad EX (xbox type) controller on a Debian 8 64bit machine, and sometimes the controller works, and sometimes it does not. Initially, I couldn't get the game to recognize the controller, but after some updates, everything seemed to work well. But now, the controller isn't picked up anymore. The BuildID is 807739. Hey,is there a way of integrating the mouse as a means by which to fire bullets? If so,how? If not,why not? I get that this is a twin stick...but...some of us like the keyboard/mouse feel. I love this game... but I keep dying because I don't have my trusty mouse....

Game launches, nothing happens, a dialog box pops up briefly, but dissapears too quickly to see what it says.
