Hello!!

I tried run Kingpin 1.21 Steam version with "wine" in various versions (0.9.181.4.1, 1.5.19, 1.5.29 and 1.6-rc5) with different OS (XP and 7) and various media HDD: NTFS and EXT4 on my / home. With this error:

err: seh: setup_exception_record stack overflow 2188 bytes in thread 0009 eip esp 00230aa4 7bc3e41f stack 0x230000-0x231000-0x330000

My machine:

I have seen that PlayOnLinux supports for GOG version ... very similar 1.21 yet:
http://www.playonlinux.com/repository/app.php?script=1241

I found native linux binaries, very old. The version 1.20. But when running I get this error:
http://www.fileplanet.com/22464/download/Kingpin-v1.2-%28Linux%29
But when running I get this error in terminal:
david@davidBUNTU:~/Escritorio/Kingpin$ ./kingpin

execing config.cfg
couldn't exec linux.cfg
Console initialized.

An OpenGL supported video card is required
to run Kingpin.

Please make sure you have an OpenGL
supported card installed, and the latest
drivers from the manufacturer.

Finally I found this installer icculus ... but it is only for the CD retail verison. : (
http://icculus.org/~ravage/kingpin/

Can anyone help?

Always better native version for GNU / Linux!

Best regards! :D

You should setup the /etc/kingpin.conf as the readme/error says.

If there is no kingpin.conf on that location it can not find the library files it need.

This game is not going to get ported unless it's a fan effort to do it, with an emulator package that works... This game was already old when it was released on Steam and it was kind of a flop when it was new.

This game HAS a native Linux port done in house by one of their own devs, it should be brought to Steam already!

Also, while the game may not have had a huge commercial success like Grand Theft Auto, it did review very well.

This isn't the only one, theres a ton of games with native ports that aren't on Steam for whatever reason, heres a list of the one where the Windows version is on Steam but the Linux version is not http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/864980277802025245/
