Game simply won't start
It's a simple problem I don't see posted anywhere- I can't get the game to start! Running Windows 7, trying with compatibility mode on and off, with the Restoration patch and without.

To reiterate: The game doesn't even try to run. I run the executable, the hourglass shows the game attempts to run, but no window ever appears and no processes are shown in my task manager after a few moments.

Any ideas?

Tricky. Did you verify the integrity of the files through steam? When Installing the restoration patch did you follow the instructions and move the Fallout 2 folder into a new directory before patching?

Yep, and yep. Both times. Currently the game is unpatched-I was checking to see if something the patch (or more likely, me moving fallout2 to my desktop then patching it in that hullaballoo) messed it up, so I reinstalled in from scratch. Still nada

Thanks for the response though :D

did you remember to move it back to your steam directory after patching?

also dont move it to your desktop. move it to c:\games\fallout2 when patching. the desktop has the same restrictions as program files when patching
