Similar how? I'd suggest Baldur's Gate and other games by them in that time frame if you mean game gerne/style. As for the theme of the game. I don't know.

fallout , planescape torment and arcanum are the most similar in my opinion. all have a unique setting of their own and great dialogue trees (planescape owns dialogue) and great character development and overall great story. baldurs gate is kinda similar but i got bored with it quickly... kinda same old stuff, magic man or sword feller save the world blah blah (i guess arcanums story is kinda iffy, though theres just something about that game i really enjoy)

so try out arcanum and planescape torment (planescape was also developed by black isles, and arcanum had some core devs who worked on fallout behind it).

if your looking for a fallout-esque roleplay experience with a similar post-apocalyptic setting then check out the up and coming 'wasteland 2' or if you like your game really retro try the first wasteland out :)

im sorry your not enjoying it. obviously theres nothing exactly like fallout 1&2 but i felt arcanum was very similar in the way dialogue was implemented (if not better, great vary and love how NPCs react to you) just in a different setting (fantasy meets steampunk).

what is it your not enjoying about the game? ill admit its quite odd and random but maybe thats its charm, oh and combat is pretty bad but that never bothered me.

i guess theres always planescape torment to try though again its a completley different setting to fallout, or just keep playing fallout

The graphics is quite odd, but i agree it's a very old game and also to achive what Fallout 1 and 2 did is kinda impossible. The combat system also is kinda messy, i've played only a few minutes but i'm a gamer old enought to understand when a game will or will not suite me...:)

The dialogue system seems pretty solid, maybe i'll give this another shot.

fair enough. i agree with all of what you said but as i mentioned it never really bothered me. theres just something about it i really enjoyed, though admittedly it took me a few attempts to get into it properly my self.

i loved how in areas one would consider low level areas, travelling across the world map could be severly dangerous. level 1 wolf, easy, 2 little goblins things, ok not hard, two level 8 bears! a level 25 wererat! too much. i feel they managed to make the world seem so alive and real despite its obvious flaws. i guess its going to be one of those love or hate games.

its worth giving it another shot, you never know you may end up loving it. maybe try not to compare it to fallout or other games too much, i feel its quite unique. maybe you can get sucked into the random world and enjoy the dialogue and NPC reactions as i did!

No RPG elements at all, but a fun post-apocalypse game is Armageddon Empires.

Dude, it's all about the original bassis of the series. Wasteland, Interplay's original masterpiece that is getting a sequal sometime soon.

I've just donate 25 $ for the downloadable copy on their site... but no sign of life since then, no e-mail just nothing whatsoever... is that normal?

I think the exact day you posted this, they had another update.

You need to post that exact thing more often.

I played a bit of UnderRail, which is similar to Fallout in that both are turn-based post-apocalyptic role-playing games. However, UnderRail's mechanics are different to Fallout's in that UnderRail doesn't have the SPECIAL/GURPS system. Still was great from what I've played, but the game is still in an alpha/beta stage and is labeled as a Steam Early Access title, but I do think it is worth taking a look at, especially once it's finished. As for other RPGs similar to Fallout, Wasteland 2 is coming out soon, which I am also looking forward to playing. I would recommend Shadowrun Returns, but I was kinda disapointed with it when I played it after putting about seven hours into it, and I haven't put more time into it ever since, although I do plan on finally finishing it when I can. Played some of Arcanum. Really good, but I do agree that Fallout is the better game. PlaneScape Torment is pretty much the best RPG I've ever played when it comes to story.
