fallout appears to be running in compatibility mode

ok so after looking around the fallout.exe (fallout 1) i turned on compatibility mode and the games color glitch was gone. i try to run fallout 2 in compatibility mode and it gives me the running in compatibility mode error i dont have any of unofficial patches. can some one please help me

Aswell as fix a ton of bugs etc. It's kind of required for the game to run on modern systems. No I have to post this on every discussion with people asking what the problem is with their rainbow graphics and compatibility mode errors.

hey i downloaded this patch, but it didnt work at all i tried installing it to fallout 2 but it didnt work

I get the same message, and ive tried to installed the unofficial patch but i get a message that say i cant install the patch under that directory in this windows (win 8). So i tried to reinstall the game, but then steam wont allow me to choose what folder it should be placed in.. It just wants to install the game in the steamfolder. So i tried to copy the files to another folder, but then i got just the same message as before.. I dont know what to do now.

And the most annoying thing is that Fallout 2 worked fine the day that i installed it.

EDIT: There is a sullution that worked for me further down in the forum..

copy the fallout folder to c:\ games. Then install the patch to that. Then move it back to your steam folder
