Fallout 2

For anyone with the black screen bug
I recently had the bug that causes the screen to go black after launching the game, i managed to fix the problem, and i would like to share a few solutions.
.
I would first suggest you launch the game directly from the steam app rather than a shortcut. theres a choice of either the standard version or the classic version of fallout 2. if you dont mind playing in 800x600 then it shouldn't bother you to try fallout 2 classic.
.
My next set of advice focuses on the common/Fallout 2 folder.
in the folder there is a file called f2_res_config.exe. open it and try changing graphics modes, also try selecting/deselecting windowed mode just to make sure.
.
In the case that none of this worked or you didnt want to try it yet, I will finally suggest putting the game into compatibility mode. My system runs on windows 10, and this was the solution that worked for me, select the file named Fallout2Launcher.exe, without opening it, right click and select 'properties'.
- select the compatibility tab
- select the box under compatibility mode
- select another OS, personally i would suggest windows 7
.
If none of these worked im sorry, im useless, lol :D
.
I hope this has helped at least cause not only did it happen to me, but i noticed it also affected other people aswell, and nobody likes a broken game (unless it's really funny).
.
(p.s) The compatibily technique is really useful for many old games, it comes in handy, especially for display bugs

Has anybody come across the issue where the game simply wont load up after selecting play on the launcher? I click it and poof, nothing happens.
