Need help starting off!
I really enjoy the game, but i constantly get killed by things at the beginning and it is very annoying. I am always running into radscorpions that, while I am running away, will poison me and kill me! HELP!!

Where do you run into Radscorpions? On the world map @ random encounters?
Try avoid them at first and concentrate on rats and questing (Shady Sands is a good starting spot) and try killing them later with better weapons (at least the SMG found in Vault 15) and better armor and higher level. You can also pick up Ian at Shady Sands who assists you in fights like these.
This will help you a lot at the beginning.

You are welcome. And don't hesitate to ask if you have questions or if you get stuck.

Remember Dell Conagher's philosophy.

"How do I beat up a big bad mother hubbard? The answer: use a gun. And if that don't work: use more gun!"

As ridiculous it sounds, it actually helped me a lot. I found a Winchester shotgun somewhere in the game (don't remember how, bought it, looted it? Pretty unlikely I killed someone who was using it, otherwise I'd be deader than the guy whom I'd have to kill in order to get that weapon) and I was virtually indestructible. A game that was once tough and extremely difficult to me became a chilly downhill in no time soon after that.

One advice: act conter-intuitively. I know that it seems like firearms were made so you wouldn't have to get close to your enemy, but it ain't like that. In most cases, when my small arms skill was still pretty weak, I used to get REALLY close to my enemies and aim for their eyes (not head - but eyes). Worked like charm, especially with the forementioned shotgun.

Getting Dogmeat early on is a big help too, he's quite tanky.

For me, picking up Dogmeat and Tycho really made a difference when I started off and kept getting my ♥♥♥ kicked. Dogmeat especially makes combat super easy.

yeah dogmeat and tycho are the best npcs to have, ian might be okay to use for a bit during the early game but his ability to only really use smgs and pistols means hes not that usefull later on, unlike tycho with his combat shotgun and dogmeats high AP. really wouldnt recommend using katja or tandi

Tycho died very quickly after i took him, but dogmeat keeps surviving.
Also, your companions don't take care of themselves, so remember to heal them,

give them stimpacks to use in combat when they are low they will heal themself
