Any good begineer guides?

I played fallout 3 and vegas a bunch but needless to say this game is quite difffrent. Are there any guides to how this game works because I've been having a bit of a hard time getting into this game and suceeding compared to the newer ones. Thx in advance and any feedback is appreciated. This game came out when i was only 5 years old if that gives any context. I'm really not used to this kind of game but for how fun i found 3 and new vegas just getting a good story and decent strategy game would be very enyoable for me. thx in advance for any responses.

I also enjoyed the newest xcom(pre expansion) if that gives any context. I've been looking for a good turnbased strategy for a while but have had a hard time finding a good one. Any advice on other games to be looking at is much appreciated as well, due to the fact that this game in a pack only cost 5 bucks. Realisticaly im just looking for a good at least semi-complicated game i can listen to music or watch tv(ATM means watchin reruns of "Trailor Park Boys" while still actively playing a game) which is why im looking for a good(/great/optimal/ better than civ 5) turn based game. Any comments or opinions are appreciated(mucho seriosos no trolll Plz give any opinion want to hear)!!!!!!!!!!!

what kind of character were you going to run first and well go from there

get that guy with the leather jacket to become your companion in shadystone (whatever the towns called to east of vault) i found my character cant hit anything with his gun so i just get my companion to do everything coz the player characters seem to suck early game, so bad that even killing the rats at the vault is hard!

I think ima try for a small weapons build at least thats what im thinking for now. I would like a high enough int/char as well so i dont get blocked off from very many dialogue options.

These 2 games are SO much better than newer fallouts.
