Platform games come in many shapes and sizes. There are the big-name platforming mainstays, such as Mario and Sonic, that rely on their own brand of rules and obstacles to overcome. Psychonauts is one of those games.
The story of the begins with Raz running away from home to become a Psychonaut, a kind of mixture between a secret agent and mental projectionist. He is taken in by the training camp, set into a journey that has him entering mind after bizarre mind to solve a sinister brain stealing plot.
With mental focus being the theme of the game, Raz learns many useful abilities such as levitation, telekinesis, and even seeing how others see the world. Upgrades and useful items are everywhere and the unique locals make the exploring the various mindsets to be all the more enjoyable. The humor is also some of the most well-written and goes hand-in-hand with the stylized look. One could easily picture a Nicktoon based on the game.
