My friend hates this game
(shock and awe in 3,2,1...) my friend hates this game. He wouldn't play it if I bought him it. His reasons for hating it are pretty stupid, so if anyone could come up with anything to convince him, please give me feedback.

1. Horror. He thinks from watching the trailers this is a horror game and/or is scary. The whole "taking people's brains out" is apparently too spooky for him (which is weird because normally he's never this grossed out at things like this).

2. Graphics. For some reason, graphics "make the game" for him. Even if the game is AMAZING, he won't play it if the graphics are bad. And they're not even that bad, but he says that the "horrible graphics" ruin the game for him.

3. Lag. Thats right PSYCHONAUTS lags on his Mac. That is how crap his computer is. In a dramatic struggle, I got to install the game on his Mac and played it for about 15 seconds. And it lagged. Now, not horrible lag, but enough to make playing it a bit more hard. I told him he could adjust the settings, but he still said no.

Can anyone think of something that would convince him? I really want him to play it because its pefect for him (dark humor, puzzle platforming, etc.), and a great game.

i know people like this,a guy from my class says all games i own are minigames and shit.
if your friend is person who can be convinced, you could show him some gameplay(i think no lp's wold be better) and if he really doesn't like this game you could just leave it like it is.

you could force him to play it ;)
and if he likes it he could keep play it

It sounds like your friend has already made up his mind.
Unfortunately the human mind is very good at sticking to its guns about things it's already decided upon and any arguments you make are likely just going to entrench his opinion further.

This is a very good game, but it's still just a game. Unless your friend is very openminded, you're probably better off dropping the subject and moving on to something else.

The first and second reasons seem like a cop-out for him, he's just narrow minded and thinks that a game is it's graphics, and vice-versa. Sadly, there isn't much you can do about that,

Just let him play his call of duty. His loss for missing out on this awesome game.

these graphics are still amazing to me, but meh to each their own. sounds like he probably started gaming within the last console generation and had no one to show him where it all began.

As said above, "to each their own".
Graphics don't "make the game", but they are one element, amoung others, which make you like or not a game.
Personally, what I like in Psychonauts is humor. Apart from that, the graphics are quite common and a bit outdated, and it's a platformer like many others.

Why you have to convince him? Ignore him and play it for yourself :)

because he thinks it is an awsome game and want to share the fun with a friend.

It might be difficult to expose him to the brilliant dialogue and story in a condensed enough fashion that it might catch his interest when he's opposed to the game to begin with. Maybe showing off some of the unique flavours of the different brain "levels" would catch his interest? Nothing bad against Mario etc., as I love those classics, but Psychonauts has them all beat hands down in terms of creative level concepts.

A
When I installed it and actually played it for a bit, he did laugh a fair bit of the time when we where on campgrounds. I was also telling him all of the crazy stuff you do in the brain levels and he appeared to actually want to get it, but then the next day he suddenly hated it. I was thinking that maybe there was a specific somthing that turned him off, as I was asking him the next day and he was giving me stupid answers like "not enough colors" or things like that.
