Are you running the game on windows? Also what GPU and monitor are you using?

Usually this is a problem when your monitor is reporting that it supports a resolution that it actually does not support. This can be fixed though by editing a file named "screen.dat"

Which is (on windows) located in the following folder:

In that file you can change the resolution and refresh rate. I suggest 800x600 at 60hz just until you are in game and then you can change it to what you want and can support from there.

let me know if that helps.

Sorry about that!

Psychonauts is not built on our current engine. Which would explain why that file doesn't exist. Again sorry for the wild goose chase.

The real answer:

Psychonauts saves into the following folder:

Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\psychonauts

In that folder there is a file called:

Open that file in a text editor (notepad) and then set the resolution to 800x600 at a supported refresh rate, and also to windowed mode.

That should allow you to run the game. Once in the game you can set the resolution through the options menu.

Let me know if that works.
