It keeps crashing
Hello everyone.

Yes there are topics about crashes during the game but I tried everything : Compatibility Win95/98/XP/Vista/7 with administrator rights, I deactivated all that could be (graphics and stuff, even if I have a pc that runs Skyrim at max settings @60fps, all things are up to date etc...) and even check the integrity of game cache.
I don't think reinstalling it would work, i'll give it a try, but if you have a solution or something, like a miracle, i'll be glad to hear it.
Oh, and it worked on my laptop and this pc a while ago.

Thanks !

I have this exact same issue and have done exactly the same things. I'm about 5 minutes away from uninstalling this...

When you run the game does anything appear on screen before it crashes? Any error messages or reports? What are your system specs?

cpu i5-2320 @3Ghz 8go RAM Nvidia GTX660, nope no messages. I know there was a problem with some d3dx9 or sound file but I already solved it, but still crashes

I've put around three hours into the game and since around 30 minutes ago, everytime I try to continue or load my game it crashes to desktop. I've tried literally every single method suggested.

I noticed that when I went to verify the game's cache it will always say that I'm missing one file and that it will reacquire it. It says it reacquired the file but if I verify the cache again immediately after (before even starting the game) it says it's missing one file again and proceeds to download the file (supposedly).

I'm wondering if this has something to do with the new Humble Bundle that the game's included in. Maybe someone hit a button they shouldn't have and it's all just a silly mistake? Would really love some sort-of fix for this, because I'm pretty sure it's going to be happening to everyone soon.

yep same thing, a file is downloading but... nothing? I think it's the .dll file which is messing with the game

I dont think it would have anything to do with the Humble Bundle stuff, as there was nothing that really changes as far as distribution. The only new thing is that the game was updated for Mac and Linux today. That being said, if Steam is saying that it cant validate the game files, your best bet is to back up the save file and then wipe your local content and re-download the game.

Same issue here, I was playing a few hours ago as well, it has to be some steam related thing.

Bought the game from Humble Bundle and downloaded it a couple of minutes ago. I also have the same problem. Nothing helps. -.-

I don't know if it's a steam thing, I've got the game with the indie bundle
Zap 7 Mai, 2013 às 16:04
I've had the same problem. Lets me get through the intro and choosing a bunk then kicks me back to the desktop. I'm bummed.
chicosoquete 7 Mai, 2013 às 16:06
But isn't that connected to steam somehow? Here we are on the steam community talking about this.
the bottom line is, it was working a few hours ago, now it's not for a bunch of us, so we can assume is not something in our end.
Maybe we have to report this somewhere...

Yeah. Exactly the same problem at me. The game crashed after the intro. When I'm trying to load the save it crashes all the time, if I start a new game and skip the intro it crashes again.

This is bull.....

It's definitely something strange going on with Steam. I had been playing the game just a few hours ago and then bam. Nothing on my end changed and everyone is having the same issue. I think it has something to do with a missing part of the game files that verifying the cache isn't correcting (even though it claims it is).
