steam cloud not syncing linux
do game saves not transfer over from win7 to linux machines? i put about 5hrs of gametime on my win7 copy and wanted to continue where i left off on my linux comp but it always has me starting fresh. running ubuntu 13.10 if that helps.

That actually came up in the Double Fine Game Club today. They just haven't added cloud support to the Linux version yet. DF's Gabe Miller was there, and he said he'd notify the appropriate people about it.

No problem. I think you should be able to transfer the saves manually in the meantime.

any tips on how i should go about doing that? honestly, i'm a total linux noob. i tried copying and pasting the saved game files from my win7 game folder to the one on my linux machine but it doesn't recognize it at all :(

I'm not able to verify this as I haven't had time to log on to my Linux computer the last few days, but I think you should be able to drop your profile directory directly into .local/share/Psychonauts/profiles/ (or something). As far as I recall the Linux version writes to ~/Steam/SteamApps/common/Psychonauts/profiles/, but doesn't appear to read from it, so maybe that directory only has something to do with the missing cloud sync. I'll try to look into it tomorrow if you don't figure it out in the meantime.

As stated by flesk, Linux version use another dir instead of the Windows one. Cloud sync actually works, but writes in the wrong dir.
I removed .local/share/Psychonauts/profiles and created instead a symlink to /usr/local/games/SteamLibrary/SteamApps/common/Psychonauts/profiles, in that way I can load synced game saves.
I have yet to test sync from Linux to Win.

to elaborate on nakis's comment, you must do this:
ln -s /path/to/cloud/psychonaut /path/to/local/pschonauts/

Works for me!

Yes, this command did the trick:
ln -s ~/.local/share/Psychonauts/Profiles ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Psychonauts/Profiles
