Thoughts on Psychonauts 2?
I know this game is kind of a cult classic, but in his recent reddit AMA, Tim Schafer implied that he'd love to do a sequel to this if there were enough funding. Granted, that AMA was to promote a kickstarter for another Double Fine game, and if there'll ever be a Psychonauts sequel, it won't be for a few years, but my fingers are still crossed given the cliffhanger ending to this one. There are also so many other questions to be explored, such as Razputin and his father's water curse or what happened to Razputin's mother.

the ending wasn't so much a cliff hanger but a set up for the second games plot. also theres a huge risk that it will flop

True, that ending setup's more what I meant to say. I don't think it'll flop now that the first has been featured in a Humble Bundle and gotten so much press. If you mean creatively/gameplay-wise, so long as roughly the same team from the first one is involved in it, especially Tim Schafer himself, I'd argue that the first game was crafted with such a witty and original universe that it'd be pretty hard to mess up. Inversely, though, it'd be even more difficult to match the greatness of the first, even if there's room to improve.

Provided they'd be able to make it on a modest budget, I think the time is right now. Looking at sales for 3D platformers on consoles, it's a genre that never went out of fashion, but they just aren't made for PC anymore, with a few exceptions like A Hat in Time. The reason is probably that they are relatively costly to make, so that indie developers can't afford to make it and the AAA industry rather focus on GTAs and CODs.

Even though Psychonauts wasn't a huge success when it came out, it has gained a huge following over the years, and if Psychonauts 2 was to come out in the next couple of years it probably wouldn't face any competition in its genre on PC.

I certainly hope a sequel will pop up eventually.

I like playing psychonauts with kb/m and I hope the 2nd one(if they ever make it)will be on pc and feel just as good.

Im pretty sure Tim said somewhere that if he made another one it would be a completly new story set in the same universe rather then being a sequal. so i dunno if the questions will be answered and if they are it will be in a round about fashion
