Constant Crashing Issues

So im trying to get Psychonauts to cooperate with me so I can do a playthrough of it, but almost every time I load a new area the game hangs at the loading screens. Ive only gotten past the psyblast training and it has crashed over 20 times on me. I have tried verifing files, running in admin/compatability, reinstalling all together but now it just crashes more frequently.

Im using windows 7, 2 gtx 680s, and it is installed to a 1 ter drive that is not my main. Anyone got any ideas on how to get it to cooperate?

Indeed. In the 4hrs I've played, it's crashed about 10 times on load screens. I noticed that when I verify cached files, the game always fails to download one file. Dunno, if that's the problem..

EDIT: Running the .exe file in compatibility mode for an earlier version of Windows might fix the problem, but that itself causes a big drop in FPS.

Tried that myself with every type of compatability mode before vista, no luck. I dont really know whats causing it, it just seems to be the game.

Same problem here too. If anyone figures out a solution, please post. I think the AppHang has to do with sli; i have a GTX690 (i love this card, but dang does it cause proplems with some programs/games).

Found Solution: set game to run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 95. It has not crashed on me since I changed it to this.

Still crashing for me, It wont even boot If I put it in 95 mode for whatever reason. Turning of SLI does not help neither.

Did you set it for all users? In the exe. Compatibility screen I went into "CHANGE SETTINGS FOR ALL USERS" and then set ren this program as an admintrator and also "run in windows 95". Good luck man!

if it still does not work, then it might be steam. I would then head over to GOG.com; some times you can pick up Psychonauts for $1.99-DRM Free.

Friad no luck, still just starts to launch, turns my friend icon green, then goes right back to blue without doing anything. Im just gona have to find it for cheap on GOG..

Additionally, are your GPU drivers up to date?

Yep, everythings up to date. And I dont run it on my main since it is a solid state (major waste of life expectancy to put a steam on a solid state) so that is impossible for me.

Okay, Do you have your documents in a cloud or server of any description?
Even if they are stored 'on' your computer if you (or the company/school that you have brought the computer from) have changed a registry there is a problem there.
It's fixable, just takes a while.

No nothing on the game is on a cloud, I have a SD for my main and all of steam is on its own harddrive in the computer.
