Psychonauts on steam linux
I have Xubuntu 14.04.1 64 bit, with AMD FX 6300, AMD HD 6570, 8 gig ram.
I cannot install the game, because it does not download anything.
How can i install the game on linux in steam?
For example Stacking works fine.

I just installed Psychonauts on Ubuntu 14.04, i5, Intell HD 4600

The game downloaded without problems, I needed to set it to fullscreen, turned up the resolution & turned off AA. It seems to be running fine with a good smooth frame rate.

My generic dual analog controller is also working perfect. To get your controller to work with your Steam games go into Big Picture mode / settings / controller. From there you can map your controller to match an Xbox 360 button layout & Steam will then treat your controller like it's an Xbox 360 controller. I discovered this fix with Battle Block Theater since it required a 360 controller. After you map your controller you can leave Big Picture mode & it will stay set.

The only thing I needed to tweek for Psychonauts was the camera analog stick bindings in the in game settings, Options / Controls / Bindins. Since Psychnauts has Partial Controller Support all the other buttons seem to be properly mapped by default as long as you map them first in Big Picture mode.

Edit: Just played this game for 90 minutes, not a single problem to report. I had forgoten how good Psychonauts is, such a great game.

Edit Edit: 5 1/2 hours in and smooth sailing with the exception of one visual bug. The surface of the lake at the camp doesn't display reflections properly. It's more obvious in the night time sections since it causes a more noticable flickering there.
I don't know if this is a OpenGL or Intell HD integrated graphics issue, but it's not a big problem.

Aside from that everything else looks good.

Thank you for your answer. I will try it later again, but with Kubuntu...

I'm getting an empty install on this on linux. I've got this through Humble bundle, so I can download the normal installer, but I'd like it to have the overlay.

I'm generally happy with Steam on linux; I have a few games that I play and they work well.

I have the same problem as OP on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I try to install it and it finishes instantly without actually downloading anything. If I try to run it it gives the "missing executable" message, because of course it hasn't downloaded it. I've tried restarting Steam as well as my whole computer, but it still won't install. Someone in another thread I saw suggested this, but when I try it I get "Error: Couldn't find bootstrap, it's not safe to reset Steam. Please contact technical support." in the console.
