Keyboard & mouse or controller?

I used to play this on the ps2 with controller but that was a long time ago.
Just got it again and I played for a good hour with keyboard and mouse. The only issue I have with these controls is the way the camera turns and the mouse sensitivity. For some reason in the map menu and the first person mode the mouse sensitivity is INCREDIBLY low. I can move my mouse across the whole mousepad and the map is only moved half a centimeter.

Now for my question: Is there a way to fix this or should I just use a controller anyways because that's what the game was intended to be played with?
