Games for Windows Live?
This game reportedly uses GFWL. But the store page has no mention of it. Has it been removed in a patch or is it simply not marked?

My guess is not marked, since it releaed "long time". Before Steam started to make this little notices about the games.

But does it actually use GFWL?

GFWL confirmed... I just installed it... hopefully I don't have the same problem with this as I've had with Batman and Dark Souls..

Fallout 3 has only optional GFWL. So you can play the game without ever logging into it. It's the only game to do that as far as I'm aware. All others make it impossible to either play at all or to save your progress without connecting to Microsoft's so very unreliable servers.

That's not true. All GFWL games which have offline content are able to be played offline without connecting to the servers.

You are incorrect, and I have the games to prove it. Both DiRT 3 and Street Fighter IV disable saving if I'm not connected to an online account. That means I lose ALL progress the moment I close the game (or it crashes). Also, Dirt 3 crashes on startup if the GFWL drivers are not running.

I've played Dirt 3 perfectly fine while playing offline. If you're not connected to the Internet/your connection drops then your account will login to offline mode and continue letting you play and save without any issues.

I've never encountered any offline mode in GFWL. Are there different versions of the software based on location?

There's an "offline account" option, but in reality it just means nothing you do is recorded or made available to anyone else. It's more a privacy setting than anything else.

One word of warning, however: with an offline account, you can't get any updates or DLC. You can switch your offline account to an online one, but I think you'll end up losing all progress in the game.

This is based on my experiences with Batman Arkham Asylum. Other games may be different.

How do you correct this 'offline' status, because it has happened recently and I do not know why. I've checked my network connections, and even logged into GFWL on the desktop successfully, but still in an 'offline' state.

When you start game and reach the main menu press Home pop-up the GFWL overlay. There will be a big Connecto to LIVE button, hit it. You can't miss this one.
