Beta 2.6+ Wishlist
Hey all,

I normally do these wishlist threads after all the minor patches are out for the current version, but in the spirit of getting the most eyes on this as possible, it's best to do it now before a lot of the players drop off while we begin development on beta 2.6.

As we take a look back at a year of Wayward, we can see how much progress has been made to the ultimate end goal. We've done 864 additions, improvements, bug fixes, balance, and modding changes in 2017 and released three major versions (2.3/2.4/2.5). It's hard to imagine a time in Wayward where you couldn't select your own character, garden and harvest your own crops, or play with friends.

As I mentioned, we are still currently working on beta 2.5.x, so please let us know of any issues in the current version so that we can fix/improve smaller things.

To get things started, I populated the poll with some planned features currently sitting in our 2.6 list. This doesn't mean everything there will get put in 2.6, rather, it just helps us prioritize what everybody wants. Feel free to add your own ideas as well, or post below if you want to discuss new ideas/issues you have in detail. We make notes and archive everything. We are currently siding on a "NPC" themed update, but that may change.

Poll: https://poll.ly/#/PXpmR1ZZ

As always, thanks for coming along on the journey with us with developing this hobby game of ours.

After playing a bit i got tired of inventory management - items inside inventory should be stackable, apples for example can make a lot of mess in your inventory when you have couple of trees to harvest. Making some items stackable would be nice quality of live improvement. We are still limited by weight so maybe consider that as an option.
From a cursory glance the game seems tick all the boxes for me aside from base defence ala Terraria /7D2D /Factorio /Mount and Blade.
And farming ala Terraria /7D2D /Minecraft /Stardew Valley.

If not implemented already:
  1. Attacks on your base either every night or during a blood moon or other special event?
  2. Would also be nice if this could be triggered through item use such as the bosses in Terraria so it's not forced upon players who want to relax at home.
  3. Farming

Just started playing in the last week and have the following suggestions:

1. Have terrain contextual menus show options for currently equipped items. e.g. if you have a shovel equiped and are standing in front of some rocks have "Dig with Shovel" as an option not just "Gather with Hands". (This could also maybe be applied to mobs eg "Shoot with bow ")

2(a). Have crafting recipies based upon all open containers or perhaps unopened but equipped containers.
(b) Have crafting recipies based upon content all chests on a given floorspace you are standing on
This could perhaps be combined with something that showed you the current selected materials for the hovered craft - icons alone might be enough (just to let you know its going to consume that prized exceptional rocks you were saving).

3. "Follow" and "Stay" option for pets

4. A better explanatin of how to use the quick-keys. I still don't understand how the quickslots are supposed to work.

5. An ammo equipment slot or some other way to determine 'what' your going to throw or fire at a mob.

Otherwise, thanks for what looks to be a promising game.

8. It'd be nice to see bioluminescent plankton/creatures in the sea (at night) or underground for additional lighting and maybe capture in a bottle for a LONG but small light source?
I also hope luminous mosses will grow in caves.

i just started playing, so sorry if this already exists in-game, but maybe a way to keep bats from just swooping over the walls and into your house?

Roofs, probably. They are a popular thing in the wishlist and I expect they will be arriving at some point.

Arrow key movement would be nice. If you press a direction and you're facing that direction, you should move or interact. If you're not facing that direction, you should turn.

Keyboard movement is already there. If you want to use the arrow keys instead of WASD just go into options and change the buttons.
this is a game about u, such a poor guy on a danger island. It should show the diffiuclt to live with enough food, and safety. It's such so east to get food and water to live alive. BUt that really decrease my feeling on this game. U only need to go get some metal to make armor and weapon then go hunt monster and search cave.
In my opinion, the only reason that most of people try to plant is because of there values is such so low and that's dangerous.
Normally it doesn't need u to plant, It's enough to get wild vegertable and hunt to get some meat. Why don't rich the Food Part. Like make pot to have soup, put and dry the meat with time but not only one step on craft, keep animal on real and even feed them, or maybe they'll die, ride animal and it can give speed and armor.
Most of plants are not necessary such as cucumber and raspberries, they give such so low data to increase. People can only plant single type of vegetable. So why don't give much more type of cuisines which ask people to use different food to make.
Meanwhile, it's very wired to give seeds after u collect, but only 1 fertile dirt make lots of plants grow every where. The problem was not only give u so so many useless seeds, It make food to get more easy. 2 leaves with a dirt, make u have enough food to eat. Same problem, a net beside sea, now u have enough badderlocks to eat or use, it even increase benignity. And water, u need to care about a pound or something use to drink, but with ur develop, u can easily solve ur thirsty with fruit or vegetable.
In one word, survival. What about make it much difficult to hungry and thirsty. Or finally, u only need to care about ur blood and stamina. (stamina can also increae by food and drink)
OH, i have a new idea, what about make another system of manster for benignity, If it's so high, there's some new monster appeared such angel, unicorn. But they are not kind and attack you. This let people need equilibrium difficulty.

Well, my english is not so good but i really hopeful it can be a classics survival game.

Things that are really important for Multiplayer.
1. Instead of clicking "friends", add a "Multiplayer" button so people don't get confused.
2. Add a server browser for finding servers to play on.
3. Add a way for a new player to find their friends on a server so they can join them instead of wandering aimlessly around a map in the hope they will find them.
4. A way to protect your items/built objects from being stolen from others.
5. A "guild" system so you can join with other and share chat & resources.
6. A way to scroll up in the chat so you can see what people have said..

I'd like some smoother movement (there is a delay between moving between tiles and it feels weird). The movement sound is also horrible.

It would also be fine if you did some first time user tests and improve upon the experience of someone just joining the game - for me as a long time gamer I've had some trouble getting into the game because many things are not quite intuitive.
moar crafting!!!! MOAR FOOD COMBINATIONS!! MOAR MOAR MOAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Building on this for number three perhaps a toggle window with player names and a check box or double click will set an arrow for that player's direction. I've been using discord while playing multiplayer and there's a lot of "I'm to the left of the trees.... no, the other trees... wait hold on I hear you moving... keep going back and forth maybe??? OH THERE YOU ARE" which is kind of fun but because of the time mode in multiplayer sometimes it's a big disadvantage when you can get lost literally a few squares away.

And for number four perhaps you can build a lock for chests? Lock your chest and only you can access it but another player could still have a chance at lockpicking it. The mechanic is already in game for dungeons so it should be easy. Adding onto this though I would love a way to recolor chests... I forget which ones have what sometimes.
