Will Humble Store purchase provide a Steam key?
Just bought this via the Humble Store link at http://hadeanlands.com/ - it wasn't clear to me if this would only provide a DRM-free version, or if a Steam key would be added later.

The http://hadeanlands.com/ page says:

"You can purchase the game for Mac/Win/Linux using either your Humble Store account or Itch.IO. (Coming to Steam on June 20th!)"

But after purchasing the game, my Humble Store download page says:

" Thanks for purchasing Hadean Lands!

Note: Hadean Lands requires a free interpreter program in order to run and be playable!
You can download the free interpreter here: Gargoyle Interpreter

You can also download the Generic Build here: Download "

I can't tell if this means I will need to buy it again on Steam to get the Steam version, or if a key will be added to my Humble download page later. Anyone know? Thanks! :)

I was not planning to link Humble purchases to Steam purchases or vice versa.

Ahh, guess it's cheap enough not to matter too much... :) But if it's not a great bother, would it be possible to reveal that on either http://hadeanlands.com/ or the Humble Store page, before people buy it? :) Thank you!

It's not unknown for DRM-free Humble Store purchases to provide a Steam key later, so it might avoid any complaints should a customer misconstrue "You can purchase the game for Mac/Win/Linux using either your Humble Store account or Itch.IO. (Coming to Steam on June 20th!) " as "Buy it now, and receive a Steam copy June 20th!"

For myself it's not the money, but I have a terrible memory... If a game doesn't show up in my Steam client I tend to forget even buying it... :(

Yah, true. I have added a note to the site.

Of course that whole section gets reworded on Monday. I'll try to keep it clear...

Yeah, It's unusual for a Humble purchase not to include a Steam key as well. You definitely want to call that out prominently.

Sad face indeed.

There are upsides to providing humble purchases with steam keys; increased visibility on steam, trading card transactions, good will :SmilingGirl:

It would also keep your humble store thingy relevant which provides a bigger cut to you (or so I understand). Especially considering Valve does not charge you for keys.

Anywho, I'm a longtime fan. IF was one of the first rabbit holes i fell down on the internet back in 199X, In a time when finding things was hard, your page was a portal into that world. Later holes included programmatic music and the scheme programming language...and Zarf was there...very strange.

Hadaen lands is great and everyone should play it. Unfortunately I can't afford to buy it twice.

Yeah, I would recommend reevaluating that decision, myself. I didn't buy Hadean Lands via Humble with the expectation of receiving a Steam key - I had no idea there were any plans to bring it to Steam (and perhaps there weren't at the time). But now that it's on Steam I would rather own it there because I too tend to forget about stuff that isn't in my Steam library (or at least uPlay/Origin/etc). I'm not likely to actually repurchase it, though, because it's not a different platform or a meaningful upgrade, it's just mildly more convenient. If there's some significant effort or expense involved, I obviously wouldn't expect you to go to the trouble just for said mild convenience, but my impression is that Valve will happily give you keys and Humble is happy to distribute them. Just my two cents, anyway.
