I found a fix for UFO_ET.EXE Stopped Working - see post
I was getting this error, as I know some of you are too. I solved it by going into the folder and setting the main exe to be XP SP3 compatibility. I know this isn't ideal, but it now runs for me where it wouldn't start before. If I'd known this I wouldn't have bought it though...

No joy here with that unfortunately. It might be the best game in the world, but it isn't compatible with modern hardware to the extent all my other (150+) Steam games are. Steam are ignoring my requests for a refund, because of course, software sits outside all consumer law and it is acceptable to sell a product that does not work....

Yes, I have the operating system that has been standard on all new PCs for the last few years..

I was running this fine on Win8 with no compatibilty issues until a couple of weeks ago, now I get the UFO_ET.EXE has stopped working message on game start and it's dies completely. Tried compatibility mode, but it's made no difference :€(
