This is my The Void experience.

Can someone explain how this moronic game expects me to draw an alpha symbol because I'm clearly some kind of mental cripple who keeps drawing the thing they display. And from my 100% failure rate that's not what the game expects despite what it tells me.

Start downwards for just a few pixels (not towards down-left right away), draw a loop then finish with horisontal line. Your end point has to be farther to the right than starting. Something like that.
Train on sisters, they don't get color if you don't draw it right.

btw if you trying in the garden then be aware you must "activate" trees by just touching it then game turn your screen (!) on tree and only THEN you must draw a gliph. Game not realy easy to understand.

The game wasn't much desigend to be easy to understand--you do have to read into things a bit.

Anyway. Other people have said it, but you basically just have to accent the features of the Donor glyph. If you start too horizontally, it'll be like "no."

Do a downward (closer to vertical than horizontal) slope, go over, curve around in a loop, cross over your path, keep going a bit, then sit there for however much color you want to invest.

i know the feeling lol, just started too, its like it has it own way and it wants you to redo it like 99% the same, sucks in the begin , just repeat repeat repeat but not allways the same way of course :P

Well I just run around drawing it and failed only once, as you can see.
Can you be more elaborate as to in which instance you failed the drawing?

I had the same problem and found the following instructions I found elsewhere online useful.

"The first down stroke is the most important part. It needs to be very vertical, and 'above' (higher than) the rest of the loop."

I.E. Make sure that your loop is BELOW the upper tail and ABOVE the lower tail.

DONOR GLYPH made as hotkey 100% success
ive made autohotkey script to make donor glyph 100% successful. this one only works on 1920x1080 resolution. other resolutions, u can follow directions at the end, its not hard.

any1 that didnt used autohotkey, google it, install it, copy between line text below into empty text file, save as .ahk file and launch this file. ull have it in windows tray next to clock as green H. can right click and exit to close it if needed.

use autohotkey, it is free, small yet amazing soft that allows massive customization of controls.

use:
hold draw button, choose color, then pres "e" and press mouse button when u want to finish donating. release draw button if u want to cancel. done.

optional:
u can change "e::" at the beginning of script into any other key or even mouse.

"/" at the end can on off toggle script if necessary. u can change that too or even delete. its not necessary for script to work.

other resolutions:
u can edit values if u use other resolutions.
MouseMove, x, y,
x and y are coordinates of the cursor for each move in pixels. x value is left to right and y is up down. 0, 0 is upper left corrner. its all info u need.

Poor excuse for poor game design. Games have the privalage of properly teaching a player its mechanic and this game didnt really do that well.

Hi! You're right. The Void is and remains one of my favorite games, because it's unique and interesting and does things video games hadn't done before or haven't done since, but nonetheless, you are absolutely right--there's a difference between solid discovery-based gameplay and mechanics and straight up poor design in regards to DEMONSTRATING and explaining those mechanics. So yeah, I agree, in retrospect. Myst taught the player all of its mechanics very well, but was obscure and discovery based. The Void didn't do a very good job of teaching the player how to do everything they could, and it should have.

...Especially in regards to drawing the Donor glyph.
