Version Roll Back. Windows Defender flagging HK 1.0.0.7 as Malware
Hi everyone,

We've become aware that since a recent Windows Defender update, it’s reporting malware in Hollow Knight version 1.0.0.7

This could be caused by a number of things, and it may be a false positive, but we’ve rolled the version back to version 1.0.0.6, until we’re sure that it’s not a real issue.

We're working on a solution now and will keep everyone updated.

Thanks for bearing with us.

Quick Update: Seems like we were dealing with a false positive from Windows Defender, which is super frustrating, but still the better than something more serious.

We're aiming to get a new patch up onto public beta sometime tomorrow, with the plan to push it out to everyone a day or two later. That patch (v1.0.1.1) includes a big chunk of optimisation fixes, so we're cautious to push it out too wide too fast.

We're sorry for the delays, and confusion this situation caused. Looking forward to getting the next update out to you.

if it helps, I took a screencap of Windows Defender notifying me about this. https://puu.sh/uBZOl/9269e958f4.png

In return, my Kaspersky found nothing.
Thanks for so quickly putting up this post. Just had the same thing pop up for me.

Only cheapskates rely on windows defender. To that end there are better free solutions available anyway.
Is there any way in Steam to tell which version we're currently on? I assume, given it only just popped up for me I'm still on 1.0.0.7 but not quite sure where to check that

I was on the beta and had no AV alerts. Now after the rollback stutter is back to being terrible... Great.

I just lost 6000 geo due to the increased stuttering in version 1.0.0.6 and I am sick to my stomach frustrated right now. Thank you for being over cautious for what's obviously just a false positive.

Could you guys at least put version 1.0.0.7 on the beta branch so that the rest of us don't have to deal with a worse game because of a couple of people using Windows Defender?

I wish I had noticed that the game was rolled back before I played tonight.

Is there any fix for the Isma's Grove bug?

Yeah this sucks. WD never bothered me about anything til now then suddenly it's freaking out while the game tries to update. Sucks, but gotta remove the game for now. Hope this gets fixed soon.

So...you were seriously wondering if you included malware in your code or not? Not very encouraging...
