Still works with the orginal vers I hope :d
As a side note I wish you would start supporting windows 9x again. Most of the games you can play on gamer ranger are 9x games, and its a pain or sometimes impossible to run XP or even 2k on older systems. Kind of defeating the purpose of the program.
Theres even a few games that Gameranger supports like Uprising, that have to be run under 9x with old 3dfx hardware (v1\v2), for proper glide support, as nglide doesn't work properly with it (glitchy gfx randomly), but since you can't run gameranger in 9x you can't play online.
Unfortunately, 95 and 98 are an entirely different beast, as you probably know. DOS vs NT.
Have you reported the bugs with nglide? That seems like it would be the best solution going forward if it allows the games to work on newer OSes.
Aside from that, I have toyed with the idea of supporting some kind of "headless" mode of GameRanger to run inside VMs that could be controlled by the real GameRanger on the outside of the VM. That would allow very old games to be run in something like VMware on Windows 95. I suspect that Glide games are unlikely to work even in a Windows 95 VM though.
I just assumed you tried to support it a little bit.
Uprising was just an example :d
Its been awhile since I've tried to run it under nglide, I tend to play alot of my older games on older hardware.
Kerenlex lets quite a few NT programs work under 9x for me.
Sorry not a programmer can't go indepth, just a retro gamer with alot of old hardware still in service.
Wow! Thanks. I just snagged X-Wing Alliance for Steam and upgraded the graphics using the third-party patch on xwaupgrade.com . The patch upgrades the models, poly count and textures. With the newer models, there are a few issues because the team at xwaupgrade.com made the ships the size they are SUPPOSED to be. It is very difficult to pilot the now-larger Millenium Falcon through the Death Star. Back before Windows 7 64-bit broke my installation of X-Wing Alliance, I tried over and over to complete that mission and finally gave up for good when I came *this close* to winning, only to crash against a wall on the way out. D'OH! There are pilot editors available that will help you get around bugs.
I really, really wish they'd do a reboot of this series, but alas! No more LucasArts. And I'm not sure a different developer would give the games as much depth. The Star Wars flight sims were amazingly complex. I wish for a reboot with a VR set. Being able to look around would improve gameplay tremendously.
I'm really hoping your program works for this. If you want someone to blow up, friend me and we'll have some fun. Thanks in advance! Crossing my fingers for GameRanger compatibility.

P.S. I just noticed how long this thread is. I probably gave you all this info for nothing. It's just I have so great memories associated with the Star Wars flight sims.
Love me some off topic posts in the morning.
